What is a capability statement?

A capability statement is a one-page business overview used in government contracting. It summarizes what your company does, how buyers can reach you, and the qualifications that help agencies or primes evaluate fit quickly.

What should it include?

A strong statement usually includes your company overview, core competencies, differentiators, relevant past performance, contact details, and business identifiers such as NAICS codes, certifications, UEI, and CAGE code when you have them.

Do I need a UEI or CAGE code?

Not always for drafting the document, but they are commonly expected once you are active in federal contracting. If you already have them, include them. If you do not, you can still create the statement and add those identifiers later.
